Studio notes

Hello World

A little animation to open the blog, the project to take apart, and a note on what I'll be sharing here.

Made in madphase · 6 seconds · 60 fps

I’m Massimo. I make madphase.

I wanted somewhere to share the work I’m making with it, how it comes together, and some of the thinking behind the tools. So, here’s the blog.

I made this little animation to kick things off: the madphase wordmark, particles, frequency modulation, and an NTSC finish. A bit of movement and a lot of signal texture.

Take it apart

I’ve included the project above. Open it in madphase, swap in your own image, turn a few layers off, or take it in another direction. The layers and animation are all there.

That’s part of what I want to do here: share the project as well as the finished piece. A render shows one result. Opening the stack lets you see what went into it and try something else.

What comes next

I’ll use this space for experiments, process breakdowns, and notes on new tools when there’s something worth showing. I’d also like to share how other artists use madphase. Seeing someone take the same tools somewhere I wouldn’t have thought to go is a big part of the appeal.

There isn’t a particular madphase look to aim for. I’m interested in giving people more room to develop their own.

If you’re new here, the showcase has more of the work, and features takes a closer look at the studio.

More soon.
